Hotel Casanova

3 Star

This outwardly plain and unelaborated property has inside much more character than you might expect, with thoughtful use of traditional furnishings in its fairly limited public areas.

It enjoys a central position in the heart of the action, with a wide range of eating and drinking choices on the doorstep, and is very close to St. Mark's Square and many of the major sights. Should not be confused with 5-star Bauer Casa Nova, an annexe to the nearby Hotel Bauer.

Exterior

A plain terracotta 5-storey mid-terrace 17th-century building with green shutters.

Property type: Hotel

Storeys: 5

Built Year: 1600s

Interior

The compact white-walled stone-floored reception has a very historic feel, with a wood-beamed ceiling and elaborate 16th-century church pews.

A simple wood-beamed lounge adjacent has red bucket chairs and has a tiny room opposite with metal chairs and tables. This was formerly the breakfast room, now relocated to a much larger and brighter space on the 1st-floor, with red seats and white tables and walls, looking over the busy shopping street below.

Rooms: 50

Grounds

There are no grounds.

Location

Area Type: On a busy and narrow street lined with shops, bars and restaurants, just off a street of designer boutiques, 50m W of St. Mark's Square; San Marco vaporetto 150m.
