Housed in a 16th-century former Doge's palace and in an enviable position overlooking the Grand Canal, this elegant top-end choice has a very upmarket feel and is richly decorated with traditional furnishings. Yet despite this feel of grandeur, the ambience is both warm and welcoming, without the formality of some similar upscale offerings.

Interior

Rich in traditional furnishing and decoration throughout, the classically-styled interior evokes a very grand feel. The lobby has wood panelling, marble floors and Persian rugs, leading to a broad salon-style lounge predominantly in yellow with wall lamps and oil paintings. This opens to a landing stage on the Grand Canal.

Adjacent, the beautifully-styled bar has a marble counter, ancient marble floor, impressive engraved-glass walls and plush red and green antique furniture, with a decking terrace overlooking the canal.

The formal L-shaped restaurant has a decorative wood-beamed ceiling, frescos in arches, gold brocade drapes and oil paintings, and again has a terrace with overlooking the canal.

Both bar and restaurant have wooden terraces, with a landing stage between them, that provide delightful views over the Grand Canal towards the Santa Maria della Salute church.
